I don’t know whether you wanted a prompt for drawing or writing, but here it is: Demyx tries to be sneaky, while watching Zexion in the library, but he ends up knocking down an entire shelf or something only Demyx could pull off.

Demyx had first noticed before how beautiful Zexy was when he was reading while they were propped up on the musician’s bed. He was strumming away on Arpeggio while the other had his nose stuck in a book. It was by chance that he happened to look up and see it.
In most cases, Zexion liked how Demyx talked; he liked the way his mouth formed the words and the way his voice made them sound. As a lover of words, he did have a preference for certain pronunciations and a particular cadence to the syllables, and Demyx did have a knack for making even the most complicated of words roll off the tongue. But sometimes, Zexion just needed a little piece and quiet.
He learned early on in his relationship that the best way to made Demyx calm down and stay still was to read to him. They would sit wrapped up in each other while Zexion read a book. At first, he discovered it on a fluke. Demyx was asking questions every few seconds about what Zexion was reading, until finally he just started reading aloud. Even now, months later, it’s found a way into their evening tradition. For at least half an hour, they would sit down and Zexion would read aloud to the blonde while Demyx traced patterns into Zexion’s arm.
It took a long time, though, for the darker haired male to realize that he wasn’t just aimlessly tracing. After a while, he realized that Demyx was tracing words. It took a lot of practice to be able to pay attention to both the words on the page and deciphering the words on his arm.
Zexion almost choked when he first recognized the three word phrase.
Because I asked myself the question “Why do I ship Zemyx so resolutely?” awhile ago and I thought the answers might make an interesting post.
I ship Zemyx (Zexion x Demyx) because I see them as two halves of a whole. Now, normally, I’d consider this response a cop out. Two halves of a whole? How cliche. But really, I see Zexion as quietude and Demyx as noise. Neither of which can exist without the other.
Zexion is quiet.
Demyx is loud.
Zexion is logic.
Demyx is fun.
Zexion is booksmarts.
Demyx is creativity.
Zexion is self-control.
Demyx is impulsiveness.
Zexion is patience.
Demyx is impatience.
Zexion does his job.
Demyx procrastinates (or shoves work on Roxas).
Two halves of one whole, they literally complete each other just by being so different from each other.
And then there’s the other hand where I find myself relating, almost equally, to both Zexion and Demyx in turn, which is like… I can almost see them as being two halves of the whole that is me. Though that’s not really a reason to ship.
On another-another hand. I find myself more like Zexion than Demyx, and I’d love to be around someone like Demyx. Someone to smile even when I can’t. And if I was more like Dem, I’d want to make someone like Zexy smile, get them out of their shell, hear their laugh.
All in all, this pairing makes me extremely happy because… I can see a lot of facets to it.
Let’s say that Demyx isn’t always happy behind his smile. I can’t imagine that he is with how the others in the Organization seem to see him. But anyway, let’s say he’s smiling… but sad.
I think that Zexion would be able to see that, be it because he’s good with details or maybe because he cares enough to look for it. Or he knows sad eyes when he sees them. And if he sees sadness in the happiest (seeming) Nobody, maybe he will want to drive it away?
Zexion wouldn’t be very good at cheering up, but Demyx would be surprised that anyone noticed/cares at all.
And then, out of anyone in the Organization, I think Demyx would be the one most able to coax a smile from my favourite bookworm.
Zexion would probably find it annoying, getting the Nocturne’s attention, but he’d eventually find Demyx’s insistance endearing.
I’m off on a tangent, but I dunno, I think I might have done an okay job explaining why I like this ship so much?
On the other hand, I think Zexion/Vanitas, Zexion/Riku, Zexion/Roxas, Zexion/Namine, and Zexion/Xion all cute ships. But, for me, none of them work as well as Zemyx.
And Axel/Demyx, Xigbar/Demyx, and Demyx/Namine are all cute ships as well. But I can’t ship them because they all seem to be missing… something. Something I seem to be able to find in Zemyx.
