“I never would’ve thought that he, of all people, could possibly forget.”

@imaginative-ink‘s headcanon about Saix’s motives made me think of a very angsty idea, and while I hardly ever draw angst, this one had to be kicked out of my system as quickly as possible. So there. Share my hurt.

So in this AU, Saix tries to save Axel from being norted- but fails. He’s still fully aware of the plan in motion, but is quite helpless as he sees his best friend slipping further and further away with each day that passes. He ends up being the babysitter/dadfriend/caretaker in the seasalt trio instead of Axel, when the time comes.

Saix is devastated and full of guilt, but also more open about the past- he knows the consequences of keeping everything to himself, but also cautious to not risk his value as an Organization member. He swears to never lose anyone again, and takes it upon himself to protect the children, knowing fully well that his best friend would do the same if he was in his right mind.

FUN FACT!

swapauanon:

The Organization XIII members outside of the Seasalt Trio and Saix actually did get development in Days! It was just cut from the movie version. For example:

  • Luxord and Roxas gradually develop a sense of camaraderie. While Luxord isn’t the “fourth seasalt trio”, there was a sense of mutual respect.
  • Roxas hates Demyx. Demyx always pushed his work off on Roxas. He apparently does this to every member of the Organization. The only reason Xemnas doesn’t kill him is that he’s great at recon.
  • Xaldin is an incredibly angry and bitter individual. He sees all forms of emotion as a weakness, and wants to turn Beast into a Heartless not to help the Organization but to prove a point. He’s just that petty.
  • Xigbar is shown to be just as much of a scheming monster as Xemnas and perhaps even more sadistic than Larxene. He enjoys playing mindgames with his subordinates.
  • Xemnas is more bland than stale bread. His motivations change from cutscene to cutscene with Roxas even acknowledging that he has no idea what his deal is.

Okay so about Lexaeus…

ask-the-stalwart-puzzler:

Listen, guys. I see A LOT of posts in the Lexaeus Tag about Lexaeus beating a child to near-death (in order for him to learn about Limit Breaks, mind you)

But I feel like no one ever really delves deeper into the rest of Roxas’s experience with Lexaeus in 358/2 Days.

For Starters: In the original DS game after enduring almost every organization member (Saix, Larxene, Zexion, Marluxia, Xigbar, and ESPECIALLY Vexen) treating you like an absolute idiot (aside from Axel) you meet Lexaeus.
Not only does this large, hulking monolith of a man have the patience to explain how to use the Limit Break without treating you like an imbecile he has the GALL to tell you that you are valued:

Which like…. BLOWS Roxas’s MIND to the point of him saying:

To which Lex bluntly responds:

And even in the manga he says:

(In the actual American release he says that they’d beg him for 3 days and 3 nights if it meant having Roxas on their team)

But that Manga panel about him “Becoming passionate” is something that holds true in the game. When Roxas asks why they are trying to complete Kingdom Hearts, Lex looks wistfully into the distance and says:

This poor fucking guy doesn’t even quite REALIZE what he’s doing… he just knows it will make him whole. That’s all he wants. It’s what ALL of them want.

and when your day with Lexaeus is done Roxas postulates:

or MY FAVORITE….. the original DS version:

[Our group had its good apples,
just like it had its bad.
But everybody wanted the same thing:
to complete Kingdom Hearts.]

SO LIKE. LEMME BE REAL HERE:
WHEN PEOPLE BOIL LEXAEUS DOWN TO A BIG, SMASHY MAN WHO BEATS CHILDREN I REALLY WANT TO CRY BECAUSE HE’S ACTUALLY A BIG, PATIENT, SOFT BOY WHO WANTS ROXAS TO KNOW THAT HE’S VALUED AND JUST WANTS TO BE HUMAN AGAIN AND DO HIS JOB.

(And don’t even get me STARTED on Lexaeus picking up odd jobs that the other team members put onto him when they slack off.)

Lexaeus/Aeleus is the real MVP of the Kingdom Hearts series and I genuinely love him to pieces.
