Me: Overwatch is a game with the most international diversity I’ve ever seen done well. A character is made up of more than a face and you know that argument is stupid. And there are some slim builds in Overwatch but that’s no reason not to appreciate how there are some non slim body in it too. And even the thin women are proportionally different from each other.

McCree talks to two women: AGGRESSIVELY HETEROSEXUAL
Nevermind that he could be bisexual. Nevermind that him and Ashe could have actually been FRIENDS (even though I’m convinced otherwise). Nevermind that they have a fun little rivalry going on. Nevermind that his conversation with Echo is as far removed from any romantic undertones as possible. Man talks to woman: clearly hetero.
New character: BORING WHITE GIRL
Nevermind she’s a forty-year-old albino rich girl turned street criminal with a massive attitude who founded a gang, united several other gangs under her command, and employs/is friends with an omnic equivalent of Alfred Pennyworth. Nevermind that exactly half of the Overwatch hero roster are women, and out of those fourteen women six are women of color of various ethnicities, six are European, one is an omnic and ONE is a white American. [1]
Nevermind that we also got:
An explanation of McCree’s role in Deadlock. Turns out he was one of the founding members! That throws a new light at the Blackwatch recruitment story and actually explains why Reyes might have wanted to recruit him.
Finally a short that progresses the story instead of being a flashback, just as we’ve been asking for! We know it’s past Recall and that McCree hasn’t answered it yet (but there’s a hint that he might in the future after he’s sorted out that mysterious business. Could the business be hunting down Reaper?)
A fantastic new character. She’s a unique omnic, worked with McCree in the past, clearly cares about him; was she Overwatch or Blackwatch? What was her role? She doesn’t seem to be a fighter type. Could she have been the Blackwatch equivalent of Athena?
A confirmation that McCree lost his arm after leaving Overwatch.
“This doesn’t fit my personal headcanon, therefore it’s shit”. This is why we can’t have nice things.
[1] I’ve seen exactly one valid complaint so far: that there’s still no African-American woman. I can understand wanting to see one. I’m sure she will appear eventually. The fact that she does not appear in this short does not mean it’s shit. There’s a lot of ethnicities and nationalities not yet in Overwatch; Blizzard can’t please everyone. This is, after all, a game.
I want to hate those who voted for him. I really really do. But i don’t believe there are that many truly evil people out there, and to me that means that the majority of trump supporters are misled. Maybe they were raised in a religion that’s ideals were theoretically represented by Mike Pence… Or maybe they saw news story headlines without reading them that led them to believe Hillary was the evil one… Maybe they were just old people scared of the massive change that would have been a female President (be honest, no one likes change they aren’t prepared for). Whatever the reason, whatever their story, I feel sympathy and pity for anyone who voted for Trump. And none at all for anyone who voted third party. Those are the ones I hate. Those were the arrogant assholes who thought that either A) a landmark and massively important election was the appropriate time to make a minor point, or B) they were delusional enough to think that someone outside the 2 party system could be elected for the first time in 200+ years. Those are the ones i hate.
Look, my parents voted for Trump, and they were not misled. They didn’t innocently vote for someone that pretended to be an upright human being. Trump has made very clear for decades that he’s an asshole. During his campaign he made very clear that he’s an ignorant, arrogant, racist, sexist, hateful, reactionary, entitled piece of shit asshole. People saw him and decided that everything he did just magically meant the opposite. Despite Trump being completely ignorant of the bible, people think he’s a devout Christian. Despite Trump being a sexual predator, a peeping tom, and an adulterer, people think he’s an example of moral purity. Despite Trump having multiple bankruptcies and failed businesses to his name, people think he’s a financial genius. He mocked POWs, the families of deceased soldiers, and the disabled. He referred to a supporter who is black as “my black”. He continued promoting that racist birther nonsense. He incited violence at his rallies. And my mom thinks (literally, I’m not exaggerating) that he’s the next biblical patriarch. My dad thinks he’s a Real Man, not like that p*ssy Obama.
Trump had white supremacists as his advisers.
Trump thinks Alex Jones is a font of wisdom.
Trump has said that his goal is to help his friends. He’s done that by getting rid of regulations that protect everyone else but eat SLIGHTLY into his buddies’ profit margins, and making changes to the tax code.
Trump doesn’t care when white supremacists kill people.
Trump thinks white supremacists chanting Nazi slogans, waving guns around, beating up black people, breaking into houses in predominately black neighborhoods, and running people over, are making a valid point. Allegedly some of them were chanting “Trump heil!” so take from that what you will.
Trump is attacking the LGBTQ+ community, with special hatred reserved for people who are trans.
Trump discriminates on the basis of religion.
Trump is trying to destroy the American education system, health care system, social security, environmental protections…
AND HE CURRENTLY HAS A 41% APPROVAL RATING.
This is not a matter of being misled. It’s just not. His supporters are just as ignorant and hateful as he is. If they weren’t, at least some of what he does would horrify them. But it’s a “small price to pay”, for what I’m not sure. Maybe just for having a white man in charge again “the way god intended”.
