How about we just acknowledge heterosexuality. I wont care if you’re bi lesbian, trans. You’re basically taking away who that person is, being a real celebrity, a real person or a fucking cartoon that i love, not everything is gay or trans, get your shit together.
Better yet, respect this movie. This movie is about an union, family members, a family. A family means someone had fucking sex with someone and BOOM BABIES. It’s just out of my mind why people would think this way…
I tend to always say things like this but always get a second view of things, but here’s the thing. I’m a latina myself, watching this movie i remembered my family, people you love, people who will be there whenever you need them, even if theyre dead, they’ll watch over you no matter what, they want whats good for you…
My family is also a musician family, and my father too used to sing to me playing his guitar and its a memory i’ll never forget. Now compare that to some rando going “HECTOR IS A GAY LESBIAN TRANS WOLF-KIN DRAG QUEEN” Or something like that. I am bisexual, i can understand that, i can understand people wanting their favorite character to be their sexuality or gender. i get it. But all i ask is a little respect. Respect for the meaning of the movie, to not overboard it with stupid nonsense like this please.
Please forgive the long rant, i guess i’m the only one that gets hit by such childish things, but i had to get it out of m system.
A-FUCKING-MEN
Like don’t get me wrong, I’m all for gay and trans rights, but not every single person in the world is gay… and Héctor is definitely either heterosexual, bisexual, or pansexual. There’s no fucking way that he’s gay; I won’t say any spoilers, but if you’ve seen the movie, you would know this. And acknowledging the fact that Héctor was alive literally a century ago, it’s extremely unlikely, no borderline fucking impossible, that he’s trans.
Fair warning, this will contain heavy spoilers for the film ‘Coco’. ♥ Go watch it before you read this, because it’s an amazing film! ♥
Now, let’s begin.
o.o.o.o.o
‘Ernesto de la Cruz’ was a great villian, but a disgusting excuse of human being.
Not only did he pretend to be Hector’s best friend – Hector saw the man as family; a brother for godness sake! – and murdered Hector, but he also never told Hector’s family of his death. Because let’s be honest, Imelda wouldn’t have thought Hector abandoned her and Coco if she had known Hector died that night.
(Makes me wonder what Cruz did to Hector’s body. Being married to Imelda should have made the police contact her if they found Hector’s dead body, right? So that most likely means Cruz hid the body somehow.)
So yes, Cruz knowingly let the family of his “best friend” believe Hector abandoned them. Either by “just” not telling them of Hector’s death, or perhaps Cruz even directly contacted Imelda and outright lied to her. Maybe Cruz told Imelda that Hector ran off to become famous by himself… Who knows? Either way it’s pretty clear he never told Imelda (nor Coco) of Hector’s death.
It must have been so horrible and confusing for Hector the first time(s) he tried to cross the brige. Why couldn’t he cross over? Surely his family would have a photo up by now? Or at least his best friend. So why couldn’t he cross over? Why couldn’t he visit his wife and daughter? Why didn’t he have a photo?
Keep in mind Hector didn’t know Cruz murdered him at this point, and he probably only heard of Cruz’s growing fame (with his songs!) from people who died, and then… Cruz himself died. Without ever telling Hector’s family about Hector’s death. Cruz died and just continued his fame in the ‘Land of the Dead’. Imagine how bitter and desperate Hector must have felt. It wouldn’t surprise me if Hector even tried to contact Cruz to get information about his family.
What happened to them? How were they? I’m not sure Hector succeeded in talking to Cruz or not, but if he did then Cruz most likely lied about everything and/or just said he had no idea what happened to Hector’s family.
Moving forward a few decedes, after many horrible years for Hector not understanding why he couldn’t cross the brigde, Miguel showed up. Cruz treated Miguel nice enough in the beginning, if only because it benefited him, but the moment Miguel realized Cruz murdered Hector it becomes different.
Cruz showed his true colours again when he first threw Miguel into that giant hole of water (I don’t know the actual name for it) and then later off the edge of that tower. Cruz threws off a child to what would have been a certain death.
So yes,
‘Ernesto de la Cruz’ was an amazing villian, but make no mistake. He was a disgusting excuse of human being.
… I really want to give Hector a hug. He deserves one. ♥
Ernesto: Oh please, you wouldn’t hurt a fly.
Imelda: You’re right.
Imelda: Because a fly is an innocent creature that never knowingly did anything to anybody.
Imelda: You, however, I would maim.
