So in my mind Maui would give up immortality if he and Moana became a couple. I mean he was born mortal and he may be alright with being so again given the right circumstances.

So on to married life. Moana would obviously be chief of Motunui NOT Maui. He would be her consort. There is an adorable little story floating around Ao3 about that btw. Anyways the years go by and together he and Moana build a great life together. Discovering new islands and establishing a family.

Early on I can see Maui having a hard time adjusting to mortal life. Having to eat and sleep constantly and not being able to find a happy medium at first. He either eats too much or just plain forgets to eat. Not too mention he’ll go days with out sleep then fall flat out exhausted from lack of sleep. Also he’s like a giant child at first not understanding what chores are and giving up his free time to help the village by helping out. I feel like he and Moana had a lot of fights about this.

Over time though Maui gets his groove and becomes the resident crazy story teller, kind of like grandma Tala once was. Also best baby sitter ever. Not too mention, besides Moana, he is the best Wayfinder the village has and he spends lots of time teaching them all how to sail under Moana’s guidance. I always see Maui with a butt load of kids following him around on his back, hanging off his arms, and in his hair. Maui becomes a part of Motunui and with Moana by his side has the family he secretly always wanted.

Now that Maui has settled down doesn’t mean the retired trickster stops all his antics. I see him playing romantic pranks on Moana all the time. Stealing her skirts so she has to walk around their little hut naked, leaving random bouquets of flowers tied to her oar to find later, sewing her brand new sails with beautiful designs on it every time she goes on a new voyage.

Moana has her hands full but never does she love Maui any less. In fact only more.
