How would you describe Lucifer and Chloe? And I don’t mean as in together. But I mean individually. Like who is Lucifer as a person and how has he grown as a person besides the fact that he is the devil of course? And who is Chloe as a person and how has she grown as a person?

Hey anon! Those are some really good/deep questions.

This obviously turned into Deckerstar cause I just can’t help it.

Can we take a moment to appreciate what a huge fucking DORK Chloe is sometimes? I just got into Lucifer recently and at first I wasn’t sure I could relate to her since she’s all stunningly beautiful and badass but then I saw some of her awkward moments and went ‘oh no that’s meeee’

I always have time to appreciate the utter dorkiness (and depth) of Chloe Jane Decker.

Her awkwardness and dorkiness are a huge part of what make her such a fleshed out and real character. So often, badass women aren’t allowed (in film and television and books) to have any other characteristics. Badassery (whatever that means; usually leather, being a loner, and sarcasm) only need apply.

Chloe gets to be a great mom who loves her kid and talks to her like a Real Mom, not a BadassMom. They snuggle and cuddle and read stories. Chloe disciplines her daughter and apologizes when she makes mistakes. She’s allowed to love. A lot. And not just The Love Interest. Her lack of friends is actually discussed and allowed to change. Sometimes she’s angry. Sometimes she cries. Sometimes she loses her temper. She laughs—sometimes, she even ugly-laughs; it’s not always a polite, feminine titter. She’s allowed to have issues and not get along with everyone (even her own mom). She’s allowed to be brave and courageous and sometimes she’s allowed to be really scared. She’s allowed to doubt and question and also believe. She’s allowed to be tender and soft and jealous and tough. She’s allowed to care so much about so many things.

Is she a badass? Hell yeah. Is that all she is? No way.

Chloe gets to be a dork who does not have game when it comes to being overly sexy (a la Lucinda) or forward (a la Chloe in 2×12), but who has a real way with people–she connects with them so well–when she’s being herself. She’s smart and beautiful but not All The Time, No Matter What. Even the way her usual appearance is casual and sometimes almost haphazard (Maze making fun of her for wearing whatever; shirts often untucked or baggy; hair not always perfect) contrasts with how drop-dead stunning she can be when she ‘dresses up’ is fantastic. I mean, how often do we see female characters who ALWAYS look as perfect as Chloe looks when she’s really putting effort into it?

Chloe gets to be a real person. I love that so much. I value that so much. Having her on television is so incredibly important.
