Knowing he’d landed a girl In Trouble would have just made him ‘nope’ out of Santa Cecilia more quickly. Héctor would have definitely disapproved, tho, so Ernesto would have told him he planned to come back and set things right, or something, to have him come along.
(He might have thrown money their way once rich, I guess? But pretty sure the whole ‘setting things right via marriage’ option would have been off the menu.)
